Well, we're in the new house and things are finally settled. Tim has adjusted well, and Pepper is enjoying life at the center. His new cage location in my office places him centrally in the house so even when he is sleeping, he can keep an eye on us all.
Mostly, we continue to hear intricate whistles from Pepper, but Tim has picked up several new words over the summer including: berry, bath, bounce and a more emphatic "No!"
Toilet-training is still our major concern and this language-barrier feels, at times, to be insurmountable. Between his spontaneous nakedness and houdini-like ability to shed his clothing, I find it more and more difficult to keep after him. I cannot get over the sensation that he is desperate to get out diapers--I can tell he does not like the feeling of them against his skin. However, at this point, he and Pepper have about the same skill at bowel-control.
And that, readers, is how we are spending our summer vacation.4th June '05 7:14am
We're home and everything is fine. The children and Pepper survived the break, and now our goal is to find a new place to live as our lease is running out at the end of the month. I wonder what a new landlord will think of a big, African Grey Parrot.26th May '05 8:56am
Hey Everyone~make sure you check out our gallery today, as it will be updated! Also, we're on hiatus for another week while I am traveling. The kids and Pepper will go on as normal, I just won't be here to post updates.

We have been enjoying rain and off and on this week, and it has turned colder again. Pepper seems to have fully adjusted to the household and has started with his first real, discernable word.If you come to our house now, the first words with which you will be greeted are, "Hello there!"

It took me a while to get this posted today, I needed a little help with the site. However, I have stumbled across a new table-top perch for Pepper. It's based on two triangles and has the nice, nail-trimming perch for him to stand on. So far, it has prevented him from going on walkabout in the house--which has been an adventure in and of itself.
